Construction information is the information used to construct the building systems on site. It can be prepared by the design team or by a specialist subcontractor and must comprise prescriptive information. See also building systems and prescriptive information.
Construction information is the final, detailed level of design needed to build the work, such as fully dimensioned drawings, schedules and specifications. It contrasts with descriptive information, which describes a system in enough detail for a specialist to complete its design. For the QS, the point at which construction information is available matters: measurement and pricing become more certain, and later changes to it are more likely to be treated as changes to the contract.
- It is usually produced during the technical design stage (RIBA Stage 4).
